Facebook Etiquette
“Facebook is a useful way to stay in contact with old friends. However, many men forget common sense and decency while on Facebook and lose any sense of gentlemanly comportment. Gentlemen only use Facebook. MySpace is for cads and scallywags.” -The Art of Manliness eBook
The take away points:
- Don’t poke.
- Use discretion when wall posting.
- Keep photos of yourself to a minimum.
- Remove compromising photos of yourself.
- Do not break up with a woman through Facebook.
I think it’s important to remember that everything you post online is going to be there for a long time. It’s easy to think that your personal content just gets sucked up in the web, never to be seen again. But blogs, Facebook, Twitter, etc. all create a snapshot of your life. What do you want your kids to read about you in 20, 30, 40+ years?
